The new trailer also gives us a decent sampling of the sorts of people we will encounter, the various factions the player will have to work alongside (and also possibly stab in the back) as they attempt to help find Aiden’s missing sister. Needless to say, things haven’t gotten any prettier. Now, 15 years later, we see how humanity has progressed and evolved since the fall of Harran. These elements existed in the original game, but that game was focused on a society that had only recently fallen - in fact, you might argue that it was still in the process of falling. The seedy bars and nightclubs remind me of something out of the television series Defiance. There’s a sort of ramshackle, cobbled-together city where residents huddle together for safety. One of the more intriguing elements of this narrative is the world in which it’s set. And from the looks of it, Dying Light 2 will be no slouch in the narrative department. The original Dying Light was a game about parkour and zombie slaying, but at its heart was focused storytelling. And now, with the release of the new gameplay trailer, titled The Reason, it’s like I’m seeing even more reasons to be excited. But even so, there’s a lot to be excited about. Maybe that tweet about 500 hours of content was a bit much. As we get closer to the game’s February 4 release date, it’s fair to say that my personal hype levels are about to reach a crescendo. And when there was a slim chance we’d see it in 2021, it was one of my most anticipated games of that year too. Watch the gameplay footage below.Dying Light 2: Stay Human is one of my most anticipated games of 2022. In this section, the rooftop gardens are lush and filled with busy bees I assume the flora would wither away as the population thins out with each morally questionable call a player makes.ĭying Light 2 is set for an early 2020 launch on PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One. The gameplay demo also shows off one of the choices players will face in the new game, and reiterates that the environment will change based on those outcomes. The gore and disgustingly squishy sounds have stayed, though. Modded weapons will make a return, and with the villainous Renegades faction threatening the security of The City, it looks like there will be more dynamic combat encounters. There will be seven different regions with unique environmental challenges that lend themselves to new parkour antics, new enemies and new mechanics. It offers lots of opportunities to employ flashy parkour moves, and the developer states that it has doubled the number of acrobatic feats available. It looks pretty swish compared to the previous game, although Harran was a compelling setting to explore an undead epidemic, The City is visually varied. It falls to the player to siphon it back before all hell breaks loose, but the protagonist isn’t in great shape himself, suffering with the zombie infection. The demo showcases one of the story’s main missions, restoring the water supply to The City. The Dying Light Gamescom demo has been uploaded for all to enjoy, and shows off its new parkour movesets, exciting environments, and a story mission with a choice.
